Final Portfolio Assessment - 2013/14

Participation:  My attendance has been good and I get changed into my gym strip before Mr. Neufeld comes and starts the class, also I have never come late to gym. I have brought my gym strip every day of gym. During games on choice days, or just regular gym blocks with just our class, I've participated more since beginning of the year. Even if we weren't playing an activity that was in my comfort zone. I've made many small improvements such as me getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new like speedball. Also in dodgeball, in the beginning of the year i was usually the one at the back hiding but over the year i started coming forward and actually playing the game. And like, in capture the flag. I was usually on defense but one day Ashley and I ran across the line and we both made it to the safety zone and i ended up getting 1 football and 1 frisbee. My fitness level  has increased since begging of the year,, mostly because i pushed myself especially during the beep test and my peers encouraging me to continue which motivated me.On choice days I usually have chosen games that i haven't done so i can get the experience or the games that I'm not good at so i can get better. For the participation category I think I deserve 25/25.











 Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class - Whenever we are playing a game or during fitness, I encourage others by giving them hi fives or by saying "good job", encouraging words. This make the other person feels good about themselves it build confidence.If someone is alone and does'nt have a partner i would include the person in our group.Anytime Mr. Neuf  or our TA is organizing  games or teams, I would pay attention to see if i could do anything to help or to just understand how to play this game or to see which team i have been put into.I usually help get equipment but I mostly help by putting away equipment like for dodgeball i will help put the extra dodgeballs away or in capture the flag and ultimate I'll help set up and collect the cones, football or frisbees. I have positive attitude towards every activity we do in gym and towards others. I figured out that if you start the pe class with a negative attitude your most likely to hate the activity that we were going to do but if you start with positive attitude you are most likely to have a good time and enjoy the activity. I like trying something new to get the experience. For my Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class, I think I deserve 21/25.


 Healthy Living- Each time we did the beep test I have improve each one. I started off at a 7.7 and ended off with a 8.2. I was amazed with my scores.In grade 9 I took foods, we learned all about healthy eating so this it wasn't a big deal because i was already was eating healthy. It's really important to try and have the four food groups in mostly all of your meals for insistence for breakfast you can have scrambled eggs with toast on the side and a glass of orange juice.Sometimes, when my whole family is free we all go and play tennis, its so much fun and intense i love it or occasionally my mom and i would go for a walk around the neighborhood. If not i have this app on my ipod. What it is it  has different exercises that you can do in 7 minutes for example like jumping jack, plank, v- sits,lunges etc. i usually do that at least once a day unless if i skipped a day i would have to make it up the next day. For Healthy Living I think I deserve 18/25.

Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills: First when I heard we had to do blogs I was freaking out because I didn't know what to do. This was my fist time doing blogs for pe so at the beginning of the year I was still confused on what to do but as the year went by I got the use to it. So my blog  has improved since beginning of the year, now I'm regularly posting about what I did in pe with evidence. By posting photos, it allowed me to see if i lacked in structure or not, if i did i could improve it.I usually read my peers blogs to see what they took from the activity that we did and to comment on them to encourage them and to give them tips to improve if they need it. My goals is to continue eating healthy and maintain my fitness level by doing activities during the summer such as playing tennis, riding my bike, playing basketball, going for a jog, run, go skating etc. When I do exercise at home its good to search up what muscle you want to work on so it would be much easier just like what our class did in the weight room.For my Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills I think I deserve 22/25.

 Overall I got  66/100 so that is 66%. I had a blast this year, made some new friends, made lost of memories, learned new ways to take care of my body. So, thank you Mr Neuf for being such a fun teacher and making fitness day's fun!! Also for teaching us to be independent. I'll miss you all!!!

June 9 2014 - Choice

Today was a choice day. The options were basketball, capture the flag, badminton and weight room. I chose capture the flag. It was so much fun. It was around the whole school which made it even more fun. The grade 10's and 8's were one team while the grade 9's and 11's were another. You had tail (pinnies) if you go to the other side they can take your tail but you can't take there's and if your tail got taken away you go to the starting line to get another tail.



June 6 Choice

Today we got the option to either work on our blogs are do pe. I decided to do pe. In pe class we the choice to play volleyball, basketball, and soccer, I chose volleyball. Only Smrian, Ashley and I were laying volleyball. So we changed up the rules of the game, few times. More then half way through the class we started taking shooting hoops with volleyballs. About 10 minutes later we started playing volleyball again. It was tiring but fun.

May 28 - Atomic Volleyball

Today Mr Pederson class joined our class and we played atomic volleyball. In atomic volleyball the rules are the same as in regular volleyball except you can catch the ball and you have to rotate every time you serve and if you drop the ball your out. It was fun. I was the last one standing for three games and I won two of them, considering it was my first time playing atomic volleyball; I did good.

May 30 Choice

Today the grade 9's had a presentation so the grade 10's got the option to either to band or pe. Smrian and I chose to do band. In band class we did homework because there are few grade 10's. It was a time will spent.

May 27 Fitness

Today our class was originally suppose to have band but because of the bad news about the trip getting cancelled our class did pe. For fitness we did the shorter version of community run because it was a flex day. It was horrible!! I didn't have pe strip so ran in jeans mostly walked and it was hot outside.








May 23 Option

Today we had an option to either watch a movie in the bell theater or do a certain type of yoga for fitness. I chose to watch the movie. It was in french comedy and I loved it. I just wish i saw the beginning and the ending of the movie. What was horrible was that there was a note on the girls change room saying that only  grade 8's and 9's were going to watch the movie so I changed into my pe strip then Smrian was telling me that our entire class might go so I changed back into my regular cloths then Ashley was like its just for grade 8's and 9's so I changed back into my pe strip and finally Mr.Neuf told us that our entire class got the option to either watch the movie or do fitness so I ended up changing back into my regular cloths.

May 21 2014 Capture the flag

Today,we had seven people in our class so it was a choice day for us. We could either do zomba, capture the flag or speed ball.  I choice to play capture the flag so I joined Mr.Vaughan's class who was vs Mr.Pederson's class. It was easier to get the frisbee's across then the football.Our defense wasn't that good but our offense was great. It was lots fun playing other new people. Afterward I helped gather the cones with Ashley.


May 16 2014 Fitness

Today, we did the hill run at City Hall. We did the hill run differently then before, this time we did the seven times to the same come and then run again seven time to another cone and run again seven time to a different cone. I found it much easier this way. I started getting a cramp on the last seven set but i pushed through that. The next day my legs were sore but I felt great. 


May 14 2014 Choice

Today we started off the gym class by getting in groups of 8 each group took out their own garbage bin and we started cleaning up litter off the school grounds.While we were picking up the garbage on the lower field, Yulia found a dead bird in a slurpee cup and everyone was afraid to pick it up and throw it away. Afterward we got a choice of whatever we wanted to play on the field. I decided to play ultimate mainly because I played capture the flag so many times and I know I would not do anything if i chose baseball so i played ultimate.We divided the team by having the same about of girls and boys on each team which worked out to the point were one team stopped trying so then we changed the teams up and it came to be that the two teams were evenly matched. At the beginning I got the frisbee twice at the end zone, near the end I started getting butter fingers which wasn't great but still I had fun.



May 8 2014 Choice

   Today the Aim Games were going on, so all of the PE classes were outside.We had a choice of either playing baseball, ultimate or soccer. I chose to play ultimate because I wanted to see if I had improved since last time I played and mainly because this is one of the few sports that I'm good at. This time i tried more harder to get open, run to the end zone, and try to help my teammates if they needed it. Basically I was more aware of what was going on  because there was fewer people playing. I even got to throw the frisbee first to start the game: I never done that before.About 20 minutes later more people joined us. The game got much easier to run to the end zone and get a person to through the frisbee to you. It was a lot of fun even though I had butter figures for most of the game.





May 6 2014 Fitness Day

Today for fitness we did the fitness testing which includes beep test, t- test, touches,etc. Today was an okay day the fitness testing isn't  my favorite fitness activity but its okay. On the beep test I got  7.9  I improved then last time but I could have still go on  but I don't know I just stopped.On the t - test i got 14 seconds stayed the same as last time. The hand reach and touch was also same level one.

April 29 2014 - Fitness Day

Today for fitness, we did the pond run. We needed a group of four and a bean bag. Each time a different person would run will the bean bag.  Every person would have done at least 5 or 6 laps around the pond. You had to run the entire pond so you had to pace yourself. It helped if you looked down the entire time you were running. It was tiring but we did get enough rest until our turn came again.

April 11 2014 - fitness Day

Today for fitness we went outside and did the hill run. I ran up the hill 6 times,It was difficult running up hill especially when you see the end zone and you want to start walking but you just can't because you are basically cheating yourself by doing that. The next day my legs wore sore but i felt great about my body. I like doing the city hall hill better because it easier for me but for this hill it was a bit challenging.
